Oman has set its conditions for full and official normalisation of ties with the occupation state of Israel, Sama news agency reported yesterday.

Quoting the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Al-Busaidi, Sama said the creation of an independent Palestinian state is a prerequisite for the normalisation of ties with Israel, noting that Oman's neutrality "is not negative, but positive, constructive and proactive."

Al-Busaidi reiterated that Oman "is open in its relations with Israel," stressing that "this is not at the expense of closing the door in the face of the Palestinians."

The minister stated that any agreement with Israel "must be complete and recognises the State of Palestine."

He also said that his country is ready to help advance the peace process, "but when Israel is ready", adding that "Israel is not ready now."

When the UAE and Bahrain signed normalisation agreements with Israel in 2020, Al-Busaidi said Oman would not be the third Gulf State to forge ties with the occupation state.
