An Egyptian security source yesterday denied reports claiming the daughter of Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, Ola, has launched a hunger strike in prison.

Egypt's Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper quoted the source as saying that "the allegations are totally false".

Reports circulating on social media said Ola had launched a hunger strike while in solitary confinement in the Women's section of Qanater prison in protest of her continued pretrial detention for over four years.

Ola Al-Qaradawi has been detained in isolation since 1 July 2017, after she and her husband were arrested on charges of joining a terrorist group; in reference to the Muslim Brotherhood.
